It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is already behind us and 2013 is approaching quickly.  While folks are busy preparing for the holidays, it’s important for managers and boards of directors of HOAs in Colorado to also prepare now to comply with the new HOA records Law ("HB 1237") which goes into effect on January 1st.

For those of you who follow our blog, you know that we have extensively covered the new HOA records law.  The new law addresses:

1.  HOA records which must be maintained and produced;

2.  HOA records which may be withheld from production;

3.  HOA records which must be withheld from production;

4.  Procedures for requesting HOA records;

5.  Charges for assembling, copying and producing records; and

6.  The use of membership lists

Here’s a cheat sheet for you to use that contains all of the essential information outlined in these blog postings.  Please feel free to print the cheat sheet and distribute it to managers, boards members, homeowners or anyone else who is interested in learning more about the new law.

In addition to becoming familiar with and preparing to comply with the new HOA records law, it’s important to update your Records Inspection Policy to comply with the new requirements.  If you would like assistance with updating this Policy, please feel free to contact us at 303-863-1872.
